1. Abstract must be typed single-spaced Arial size 12 with up to a maximum of 300 words. Figures or tables are
acceptable but the entire abstract must fit on a single page. If submitting online and no acknowledgement is
received within 48 hrs please also send a copy by post to the organizer. If submitting solely by post please send
three copies.
2. Type abstract title in capitals and underline. Leave a blank line,
type the authors’ names (upper/lower case with initials first). On the next line type the authors’ institutions
using superscript numerical references for multiple institutions
(eg. Gandhi1...Good Hope Hospital1). Leave a blank line before the body of the abstract.
3. Abstracts should be structured and include Introduction, Method,
Results and Conclusion where appropriate. It is not acceptable to state "the results will be discussed". Do not use
special fonts such as italics, underline and bold, or special characters, trademark symbols or mathematical symbols
in the body text of the abstract. Do not use word processing footnote, endnote, or paragraph numbering functions to
make a list of references. Any references should be cited in sequential order in the text thus (1) and follow the
standard format; Bone RC, Fisher CJ, Cemmer TP et al. Sepsis syndrome: A valid clinical entity. Crit Care Med 1989;
17:389–393.
4. Abstracts will be posted on the
PECSIG website and may be published. It is important that submitted abstracts are accurate, complete and do
not contain unexplained abbreviations. Abstracts, which do not comply with the guidelines, may not be
considered.
5. Please state, where applicable, that ethical approval has been
obtained.
